STAVNE MEMORIAL GROVE, 2008

The memorial grove at Stavne sits on the northern most point of Stavne Churchyard in Trondheim, Norway.

Its function is a "multi-religious" memorial, a place of remembrance.

"Multi-religious" refers to the use of the memorial regardless of religious belief.

 

   

The memorial is a partially screened park area containing benches, 3 urn areas, a circle based area with facilities for flowers, candels etc. and an area for names (names of the deceased).

The interior is an intimate, white space (diameter 280 cm, height 300 cm) which is the meditative core of the construction. It is roofless with a white floor and white walls.

 
     

Dimensions:

Max height: 3 m, 
diameter core: 2.80 m, 
diameter glass- glass and steel installation 10 m, the entire installation area is approx. 30 x 40m

Materials are mainly steel, 
glass and wood.
